Wrexham Schools Finals – A Fantastic Team Performance!

Our mixed Year 5 & 6 team represented All Saints' School at the Wrexham Schools Finals, producing a fantastic day of football, resilience and teamwork.

The team got off to a brilliant start, winning their opening game 2–0. Two incredibly tight 1–0 defeats followed, with both matches capable of swinging our way. The quality of those opponents was clear, as both went on to reach the semi-finals.

But the children never let their heads drop. They grew into the tournament with every game, finding their rhythm, building confidence and becoming a real unit. From 11am onwards, they won every game they played, finishing the day with plenty to be proud of.

A special mention to every player for their contribution:

Player performances

Rudie – The rock at the back

Rudie ran the show from the back, stepping up to play as our sweeper-keeper. His outstanding distribution and excellent saves kept us in every match, giving the team confidence to build from the back and push forward.

Freddie – Leading by example

Our skipper Freddie grew into his leadership role throughout the tournament. His performances at centre-back were outstanding, combining strong defending with composure on the ball and playing a key role in getting our attacks moving.

Louie – Composed and versatile

Louie was excellent at centre-back, linking up brilliantly down the right-hand side. His quick feet, intelligent movement and ability to find space helped us move the ball forward and gave the team another reliable option in possession.

Eliza – Our all-action utility player

Eliza stepped up once again, proving invaluable wherever she was needed. Whether playing on the right, through the middle or in defence, she brought energy, quality and real attacking sparks to every game.

Harri H – Growing into the tournament

Our only Year 5 player on the day, Harri H showed fantastic progress in an attacking midfield role. As the tournament developed, he found more time and space on the ball, creating opportunities and getting some excellent shots away.

Finley – Relentless down the left

Finley ran his socks off from the first whistle, providing a constant attacking outlet down the left. His pace, determination and ability to beat defenders created some brilliant opportunities, with goals and assists to reward his tireless work.

Isaac – The engine of the team

Isaac provided the legs and energy that kept our team ticking. His movement and link-up play connected our defence with the front line, while three assists highlighted his quality and contribution to our attacking play.

Harry C – A natural poacher

Harry C played a fantastic role leading the line as our poacher striker. His movement in the box and ability to get on the end of some wicked crosses caused problems throughout the day, capped off with a brilliant goal in our final group-stage match.

Luke – A threat down the right

Luke brought plenty of excitement on the right-hand side, showing excellent pace, skill and confidence with the ball at his feet. His ability to drive forward, take on defenders and track back made him a real asset.

Cai – Clinical and creative

Cai once again showed his versatility as a striker, combining slick footwork and brilliant skills to get us into dangerous positions. His goals and attacking contribution were a huge part of our success throughout the tournament.

Player of the Tournament 🏆

A tricky one to pick this time, with so many players putting in fantastic performances. But Luke’s work rate, constant positivity and all-round play really clinched it for him. A thoroughly deserved award!

A team to be proud of. What stood out most was how the children grew together. They showed resilience after two narrow defeats, supported one another and finished the tournament playing some excellent football.

To win 5 games, concede just three goals and finish so strongly against teams who reached the semi-finals, with one going on to win the whole tournament, is a tremendous achievement.

Super proud of every one of them. This is a fantastic group of players, and there is plenty more to come from All Saints!

A huge thank you to Mr Morris and Mr Williams for his support throughout the day. The children really enjoyed the extra coaching, encouragement and company. It was great to have you alongside us!
