Blwyddyn 1 & 2 - Dosbarth Caergwrle - Mrs Dobie

We went across to All Saints’ Church this morning to watch the Open the Book group re-telling the Christmas Story.

We have been exploring patterns in the environment as part of our fieldwork study.

Memorial Hall Fieldwork Study. We walked to the Memorial Hall and identified different features. When we got back to class we looked at the Memorial Hall using Google maps and tried to locate the different features we had spotted on our walk.

We have been reinforcing the importance of good hand washing using the Glitter Bug

This week in RE we have started our theme of Advent.

Science & Technology - we planted sunflower seeds & recorded observations of their growth for a few weeks.

Year 1 & 2 have completed their Climate Hero Pledges.

Today we went on a ‘Litter Pick’ around our local community. We picked 3.2kg of litter!!

The children are enjoying finding out about dragons as part of their topic on Wales.

The children have been growing Sunflowers in school. Here they are measuring them and filling in their Sunflower diaries.

Wales Outdoor Learning Week - we went outdoors to read our new reading book to a partner.

In Science & Technology we have been working in groups to build a ramp that would roll an egg the furthest.

Our topic this half term is Wales. On Friday we had a delivery from Dewi Draig and we made Welsh cawl in the Forest School.

This week we have been learning about China and Chinese New Year 🇨🇳

As part of Children’s Mental Health Week children have been making a book about their ‘Happy Place’.

We have been looking at animals and their habitats. Here are some habitats that the children have made.

Outdoor Classroom Day

We made bonfire and firework pictures using chalk, powder paints and natural materials.

In Maths this week we have been looking at how numbers can be split into parts by using the part whole model.

We made Autumn pictures using the items we collected on our Autumn walk 🍂🍁

We took part in Mental Health Day for Young People on Friday 9th October by wearing yellow to school. As a school we raised £290.19 for the charity Young Minds

Development has begun on our Forest School area. Children have been busy litter picking and clearing bushes.
